Why we do not support other browsers
Our systems are optimized for Internet Explorer (IE). This is because:
- IE dominates the market for browsers in the business arena. Our software
is primarily for businesses. Catering for 20% of the market (non-IE
browsers) would not be worth the massive effort involved. There are
facilities becoming available that will help our efforts in this regard in
the future.
- The technologies, that we need are simply not available in other browsers.
This is an issue of efficiency in our development environments. HTCs and XML
data islands are very powerful tools that are not supported by other
browsers.
- Up till Google released Gears, there was no other platform that allowed
web interfaces on a PDA to store data locally.
- With Internet Explorer we can have the same interfaces in our desktop
systems that we do on the web. And that is how we were able to develop such
powerful systems - our clients have been using them in their desktop and
servers applications for years.
